Keating archives at Emory

The archives of Father Thomas Keating, a Trappist monk known for his spiritual writings and insights, have been transferred to the Pitts Theological Library.

The transfer agreement was signed by Contemplative Outreach, a foundation devoted to promoting Keating’s works. As part of the agreement, the Aquinas Center will be promoting Keating’s archive and legacy.

Keating is best known for his work on centering prayer, a form of receptive prayer that facilitates a communion with God.

A conference on the contemplative life and centering prayer opens Thursday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 26.

The Aquinas Center also plans an array of fall programs on Cardinal John Henry Newman who was beatified Sept. 19.
