Center for Scientific Computation, located on the fifth floor of Emerson
Hall. The center is a conduit of high-end computing, with a focus on
molecular modeling. “The Emerson Center is unique,” says
Morokuma, its director. “On one hand it is a service center, on
the other hand it is a research center.” And that research is
quickly gaining worldwide recognition; more than 85 international scholars
have come through since 1993. Since 2000, more than 180 papers have
been published using research performed there. Click here

'Phil' to play Schwartz Center: The New York Philharmonic, led by conductor
Lorin Maazel, will help open the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts by
playing a Feb. 8, 2003, concert in the facility's Emerson Concert Hall.
"The Phil's" first Atlanta concert in 20 years, this event was
made possible by the president's office and the Flora Glenn Candler Concert
Series. A drawing will be held to distribute a limited number of tickets
among Emory faculty, staff and students; information, rules and entry
forms are available at www.emory.edu/ARTS,
and entries are due by Dec. 26. Other events associated with the Schwartz
Center's gala opening will also be ticketed, including some that originally
were to be walk-up events. For more information on the Philharmonic's
concert or other events, call the Arts at Emory box office at 404-727-5050
or via e-mail at boxoffice@emory.edu.
